Nov 23, 2017

Recently, Bloomberg reported that an unnamed source revealed that the China’s Development and Reform Commission is considering changing the reduction rate of the photovoltaic electricity price in 2017 in some regions, from 2 percent to about 13 percent.

To be specific, the China’s Development and Reform Commission would lower the standard on-grid price of the photovoltaic electricity in 2017 in the third-type region, from 0.98 yuan per kWh in 2016, to 0.85 yuan per kWh. Since this message hasn’t been made public officially, the source referred above didn’t want to be named.

We should be clear that the consideration of the price change has not yet been finalized, and many variables still exist. By now, the China’s Development and Reform Commission has not given a clear response to Bloomberg’s fax requests for a comment.

Actually, the China’s Development and Reform Commission previously indicated that the standard price of the photovoltaic electricity in the third-type region will be reduced by 0.02 yuan per kWh, year by year. In 2016, the price is set to be 0.98 yuan per kWh.
